Picking a controller for Genshin Impact (PC): Make sure it uses XInput!

Dear diary, today I want to share how to know if the controller you want is compatible with Genshin Impact on PC.

In short:
- The controller should use the XInput API, generic DirectInput (D-Input) controllers are likely not supported.
- If the controller has a switch, usually on its back or top, and usually with the letters X and D, it should be supported if the switch is set to the XInput position.
- The product description, technical details, manual, box and/or announcement page should inform which type of device the controller is, make sure it says XInput and not D-Input or DirectInput.
- PS4 controllers should be supported.
- PS5 controllers might not work, however, they can work via Bluetooth. This should be fixed in future game versions.

Here's a demonstration of the switch on the back of a multi-mode controller:

For smartphones the results might be different as it depends on the system rather than the game. If picking a controller for Genshin Impact (Mobile) please try to confirm if your phone model and operating system version supports the device.

This ends my travel diary entry for today.
I hope today's notes will be useful for future travelers.

Konagi-chan loves playing games on controllers but prefers to use keyboard and mouse on 3d games.
