Build Sucrose as a Carry: EM vs DPS

Dear diary, today I want to share an experiment on building Sucrose as a Main Carry for many different teams and identify whether these teams benefits more from Elemental Mastery (EM) or DPS buids.

Konagi-chan used this methodology:
- Clear the First Half of the 2nd chamber of the 12th Spiral Abyss Floor as it's ideal for AoE experiments.
- Each team will clear said chamber 5 times while Sucrose uses an EM build.
- Each team will clear said chamber another 5 times while Sucrose uses a DPS build.
- No relevant benediction buffs should be picked.
- Attempts where an unpredictable event happened are discarded. For example, latency problems.
- Teams triggering Electro-related Elemental Reactions uses Fischl's Ascension 4 (A4) Talent: Undone Be Thy Sinful Hex.
- All attempts are recorded.
- The completion time, in seconds, for each team will be noted down.
- The best, worst and average completion times will be calculated for each team.

Konagi-chan believes this was the best way to reach a conclusion and understand which teams benefits more from Elemental Mastery and which teams benefits more from DPS builds. If an EM team took considerably longer, in average, than the DPS counterpart, then the team is better if Sucrose uses a DPS build. If the EM team cleared the chamber faster or in about the same time as the DPS team, then the team performs better if Sucrose uses an EM build.

Here's the spreadsheet with the gathered data:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1xBhF9IbvBBl1aJjX5g0O2Ycfse_KDIjYvL5CD9peo6s/edit?usp=sharing

Please note that this experiment tries to compare Sucrose EM vs DPS builds with AoE focus and not team compositions against each other, due to differences in character levels, constellations and investment. Single target strategies might yield different results than AoE scenarios.

For opinions on possible teams in regards to gameplay details, please check my next post: Build Sucrose as a Carry: Team comparisons.

Gathering data took longer than Konagi-chan expected. A total of 25 teams were tested with 10 attempts each on 12f-2A chamber, which reaches at least of 500+ chambers cleared, excluding discarded attempts and teams.

Only teams consisting of deployable, off-field, lasting and/or over time elemental application were considered. Teams that have negative synergy were discarded, such as Freeze teams that contains Electro characters triggering the Superconduct elemental reaction, reducing the efficiency of Freeze teams. Teams that uses Shatter as main damage source were not tested. Teams that heavily rely on characters that Konagi-chan didn't build were discarded as the results may be biased because of the other support characters.

The results are, in short:
- All teams using Superconduct to trigger Fischl's A4 Talent benefits more from Sucrose DPS build.
- Teams triggering only Overloaded at a high rate (e.g. Sucrose-Fischl-Xiangling and Beidou/Lisa supports) may benefit more from Sucrose EM build.
- Teams triggering Overloaded and extra reactions such as Vaporize or Melt at a high rate (e.g. Sucrose-Fischl-Xiangling and Mona/Diona) may benefit more from Sucrose EM build.
- Teams triggering Overloaded and other reactions at a slower pace (e.g. Sucrose-Fischl-Xiangling and Kaeya/Barbara) may benefit more from Sucrose DPS build.
- Teams triggering Overloaded but relying on raw damage (e.g. Sucrose-Fischl-Xiangling and Bennett) may benefit more from Sucrose DPS build.
- Teams triggering only Electro-Charged at a high rate (e.g. Sucrose-Fischl-Xingqiu and Beidou/Lisa/Barbara/Mona) may benefit more from Sucrose EM build if the supports are well invested, otherwise Sucrose's damage as a DPS is still significant.
- Teams triggering Electro-Charged and extra reactions such as Vaporize or Overloaded at a high rate (e.g. Sucrose-Fischl-Xingqiu and Xiangling) may benefit more from Sucrose EM build.
- Teams triggering Electro-Charged and extra reactions such as Frozen and Superconduct at a high rate (e.g. Sucrose-Fischl-Xingqiu and Kaeya/Diona) may benefit more from Sucrose EM build.
- Teams triggering Electro-Charged but relying on raw damage (e.g. Sucrose-Fischl-Xingqiu and Bennett) may benefit more from Sucrose EM build if the supports are well invested.
- Teams triggering Frozen (e.g. Sucrose-Kaeya-Xingqiu and Mona) benefits more from Sucrose DPS build.
- Teams triggering Vaporize (e.g. Sucrose-Xiangling-Xingqiu and Bennett/Kaeya/Mona) may benefit more from Sucrose EM build if the supports are well invested, otherwise Sucrose's damage as a DPS is still significant.

This ends my travel diary entry for today.
I hope today's notes will be useful for future travelers.

Konagi-chan apologizes for taking too long to finish this experiment.
